Excerpt From the Book

Dubai is like no other place on earth. It’s fast, it’s crazy and it’s glamorous. Located on the Arabian Gulf, Dubai is the largest city of the UAE, although Abu Dhabi is the country’s capital. The UAE has 9.2 million inhabitants, of which 7.8 million are expats. There is no other country in the world with so little local population compared to expatriate communities.
This expatriate presence is tangible in everyday life in Dubai. When you are walking through the streets, you will most likely here many languages – most of all English, but also French, Italian, German and Hindi. I sometimes didn’t hear anyone speaking Arabic for days, because even locals or people from other Arabic countries communicate mainly in English. This will help you feel integrated from the very beginning: No language barriers!
Famous for the tallest buildings in the world and the biggest and most numerous malls, Dubai is a global city of international importance and a business hub. Since the UAE is a tax-free country, more and more international start-ups have begun to pop up here. And, as a gate between Europe, the south of Africa and South East Asia, it’s also a major transport hub for passengers and cargo, which makes it perfect for digital nomads to move from one continent to another. It has been rated as one of the best cities to live in the Middle East, but also as one of the most expensive. This hyper-modern city is an ideal base for those looking for a place with Western standard lifestyle but an oriental atmosphere.
